A Late start to a perfect beach day

We started off our day at the beach a bit late. We left our home around noon- in order to avoid the harsh midday sun. Once we got there, we saw seagulls, long billed curlews, and pelicans.

By the time we arrived, the coast was alive with movement. Seagulls wheeled overhead, pelicans skimmed the water, and a few long-billed curlews tiptoed along the shoreline.

Most of the birds didn’t become active until the sun began to dip, casting that golden glow across the sand, but I was thrilled just to see them in motion. . The moment felt fleeting and magical—one of those last golden hours before saying goodbye to summer.

Sunset

These three sunset photos were taken within just a few minutes of each other. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the light changed quickly—creating a brief, beautiful window for photography. I wanted to capture these moments not only for myself, but to share just how stunning a simple sunset can be, no matter where you are.

I took the first photo because I was drawn to the way the sunlight hit only certain parts of the rock, creating contrast and depth. The natural shadows and golden tones made the scene feel dramatic yet peaceful.

The second photo captures the sky at its most vivid. I was honestly in awe of how beautiful the sunset sky looked at that moment. This one really shows the magic of the golden hour at the beach.

The third photo was taken just after the sun had set. The sky was dimming, but a few soft, cotton candy clouds still floated above. Though the composition is simple, I find there’s something calming and quietly pretty about this shot. It reminds me that beauty often comes in the quieter moments, too.

Coastal Birds

This photo series captures three distinct moments from a recent trip to the coast, each one reflecting the beauty of coastal birdwatching and the subtle magic of a late afternoon by the ocean. While the photo on the left turned out a bit blurry, I still think there’s something special about it.

The image shows pelicans flying in formation, a peaceful and natural scene that speaks to the rhythm of the coast. Even though I wish I had brought a better lens to capture more detail, the simplicity of the shot still conveys a sense of motion and harmony in nature.

The middle photograph features a seagull walking along the shoreline. At first, it didn’t seem to notice me, but as I crept a bit closer, it paused and looked straight into the lens. What I love most about this image is the stormy tone of the lighting—the muted colors and moody sky bring out the personality of the moment.

The last photo is one of my favorites from the day. It captures the ocean waves glistening in the sunlight, with a soft, glowing sky overhead. The natural lighting and composition make this shot feel serene and timeless.

The first photo was one I debated posting. It felt different—less polished, more abstract—and I wasn’t sure how it would resonate with my audience. It’s not the kind of image I typically share, and honestly, I was a bit anxious about branching out creatively.

The middle photo was taken in the exact same location as the one on the top left. I captured it intentionally to create a sort of side-by-side comparison, showing how light, angle, and even mindset can change the entire feel of a photograph.

The last photo had pelicans flying over some rocks on the coast. While I loved the opportunity to capture this moment, I’ll admit I felt a bit disappointed with how the image turned out. I wish that I had been able to capture exactly what I saw, since it was breathtaking.
